About

Bunk Bed

Safer Cell Systems plc have an old, and very wise, corporate head on a young and lean corporate body. Keith Bates, the Managing Director is a qualified accountant who has experience of project managing many major fit-out contracts including over 2,000 prison cells. To ensure that the corporate body is strong enough to operate in this market the initial share issue was for £100,000. The construction industry is full of £2 issued share capital companies. The fact that the management have put their own money on the line is testament to their confidence in the team.

Safer Cell Systems plc is a new company but our products are supported by many man-years of experience in the design, fabrication and installation of specialised anti-ligature furniture. We do not believe in reinventing the wheel but we do believe in recognising that yesterday's solution may not be entirely appropriate for today's or particularly tomorrow's problem. The design process may start with a few marks on a CAD screen from a technician with significant experience and expertise in safer cell furniture but input will be sought from the shop floor, the logistics team and the installation team; all members of the Safer Cell's team have a part to play and a contribution to make.

Specialised anti-ligature furniture comprise wardrobes, storage units and writing surfaces of varying sizes and details. We recognise that the needs in a medical unit of a prison or a secure ward in a mental health unit may vary from those in a standard prison house block and have a range of alternative products available. There are however a range of design themes running through the furniture.

Safer Cell Systems plc aim to avoid an institutional look, the material must meet high fire retardancy standards, fixings must be hidden, no sharp edges, the design must be appropriate for the need. Above all must be the requirement to create a safe, anti-ligature environment.
